VIA Processor Features
VIA C3 and C7 Power Saver Feature
These documents describe how to turn on the Power Saver (previously known as "Longhaul") feature of the VIA C3/C3-2/C7 CPUs, thereby making it possible to dynamically adjust processor clock frequency. The voltage can be adjusted on C7 CPU. The latest package includes a graphical-user-interface utility that can be configured to automatically adjust the CPU operating frequency, between a preferred set of speed grades, according to pre-determined system load criteria. This allows users to manually force the CPU to operate at a particular speed. The Power Saver feature is considered experimental at this time.
